Frequently Asked Questions
About Our Products
Are your products authentic and handmade?
Yes, every piece at A&A Mexican Boutique is sourced directly from artisans in Mexico. Our embroidered blouses, dresses, and bags are genuinely hand-stitched -- not machine-printed -- and made using traditional techniques passed down through generations. We do not carry mass-produced imitations.
Where do your products come from?
Our clothing and accessories come primarily from three of Mexico's most celebrated artisan regions: Oaxaca, Puebla, and Chiapas. Each region has its own embroidery style, fabric tradition, and cultural heritage. Some of our accessories are also handmade by our founders, Norma and Angelica Alvarez.
What is manta fabric?
Manta is a 100% natural, unbleached cotton fabric that has been used in Mexican textile traditions for generations. It is lightweight, breathable, and comfortable in warm climates -- which makes it ideal for South Texas weather. Most of our embroidered blouses and dresses are made from manta or similar natural cotton fabrics.
Are your leather bags real leather?
Yes. Our leather purses and bags are genuine leather sourced directly from Mexico, where leather craftsmanship has a long artisan tradition. We do not carry faux leather products.
Sizing and Fit
How do your dresses and blouses fit?
Mexican artisan clothing is traditionally cut with a relaxed, flowy fit. Most blouses and dresses are designed to be comfortable and breathable rather than form-fitted. We recommend sizing up if you prefer more room, or checking our Size Guide for detailed measurements.
Do you carry plus sizes?
Many of our styles are available in a wide range of sizes. Please contact us directly if you have specific size questions and we will do our best to help you find the right fit.
Can I exchange a size if it doesn't fit?
Yes. Please reach out to us within 14 days of receiving your order and we will work with you on an exchange. Items must be unworn and in original condition.
Care Instructions
How do I wash my embroidered clothing?
To protect the embroidery and fabric, we recommend hand washing in cold water with a gentle soap, or using your washing machine's delicate cycle. Turn the garment inside out before washing to protect the stitching. Do not wring -- lay flat or hang to dry. Avoid bleach and high heat.
Can I iron embroidered pieces?
Yes, but always iron on the reverse side of the fabric on a low to medium heat setting. Place a cloth between the iron and the embroidery to avoid damaging the threads.
How do I care for leather bags?
Wipe with a soft, dry cloth after use. For deeper cleaning, use a leather conditioner or mild leather cleaner. Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Avoid getting the leather wet.

About A&A Mexican Boutique
Who founded A&A Mexican Boutique?
A&A Mexican Boutique was founded by Norma Angelica Alvarez and Angelica Alvarez -- two women with a shared passion for Mexican culture and a mission to bring authentic artisan clothing to the Coastal Bend. You can read more on our About page.
Why did you start this business?
After 20 years as a stay-at-home mom, Norma finally had the opportunity to pursue her dream of owning a business centered on her culture. Together with Angelica, she opened A&A Mexican Boutique to honor the artisans who make these pieces and to help younger generations reconnect with Mexican heritage and tradition.
